What is the difference between rebedding and repointing?+

Rebedding replaces the mortar the caps sit on. Repointing is the flexible top layer that seals and finishes the join. Most older roofs need both.

Can I just repoint without rebedding?+

If the bedding is sound, sometimes. If the caps move when touched, the bedding has failed and should be replaced first.
